I hate the spam that you get on your blog comments, it seems whatever you do they just always seem to find a way in. The below comment was made yesterday to a post i wrote OVER A YEAR AGO. Somehow the geniuses behind annoying spam-mail have found a way to annoy me in yet another outlet. The funny thing is that this one has some funny logarithm built in to take key words from my post, match them to key sentences (badly written and translated, I might add) from some database of spam language. It’s awful how much they try to make their comment just relevant enough that you’ll click on their link, but a bit funny to read and get a laugh. Damn you blog-spam comments for being annoying yet humorous…

“I’ve had my Pre due to the fact shortly soon after launch and am glad to locate (by way of this forum) that I can now set a ring tone on incoming text messages and can research through e-mails and this kind of. Now is there any hope for an upcoming release by which I can look for my calendar? Would make my work a lot simpler, discovering dates of final appointments. No other complaints, except that yesterday I used to be in and out of Sprint assistance (not unusual). I think I used to be roaming, and looked at my calendar. Almost everything within the calendar was just one hour earlier than what I had input. The clock was just one hour early as well. I was scared to death–then, once we got back into Sprint service yet again, everything was normalized. Has this happened to anybody else?? Seeking forward to answers, but please keep in mind, I’m no techie and speak English as opposed to technospeak.”

The last 3 years I have been a part of a high risk/high reward Fantasy Football League. Initially, it started as 16 teams at $500 a team … pretty steep, but when first place takes home 4k, certainly a worthy investment for the professional gambler and genius sports mind (both of which I am not).

However, this great league has crumbled apart. Down to 12 or even 10 leagues, and only a $300 fee means the time and effort are no longer worth the investment. And since I like to be in charge of things and have a few ideas to commish better than the previous one, I’m taking over. In the words of Eurotrip, “I BUY MY OWN HOTEL!” … except this time the hotel is a big ole cash bag of fooseball. I sent out an inquiry about this back in February and found 20 possible interested parties … but times have changed and they may not all still be as eager beavers as they once more. So I write this to see if you, yes YOU would like to join. Football season is almost upon us, and gambling season never sleeps. So, shuffle up and deal, start your engines, or put the women and children to bed and go looking for dinner … cause you are invited to come play! Details below, email me if serious.

2010 “The Big One” Fantasy Footbal League
This league will have 12-14 total teams, and the draft will be sometime within a week of Labor Day (to be decided later based on actual players). Official rules are being finalized now, but as a reminder, details of this league are below.

This will be the start of a great recurring league, all are welcomed to try to keep up.

General rules of “Touchdown Heavy” League:
-12-14 teams
-$400 entry fee per team
-$100 additional fee for pickups (unused money returned)
-Rushing/Receiving TDs count for 6 points
-Passing TDs count for 3 points
-100 yards rushing or receiving, or 250 yards passing earns 1 point (1 point for each additional 25 yards)
-Field goals and extra points earn 3 and 1 point
-Defense TDs or shutouts earn 6 points
-We will use CBS Sportsline for the site, draft will be available in person and online for remote teams.

Did you know Minnesota had a Street Rod Association? Did you know its at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds this weekend? Do you even know what a Street Rod is? If you answered “no” to all those questions, then you are like me … which is why you should join me by going to the Fair tonight to check out the “Back to the 50′s” Hot Rod cars on display. I have to admit, its probably the greatest event I never knew existed. Over 11,000 cars to drool over, pine over, and even auction over. Yep, you could take one home. I’ll be driving my vintage 2007 RX-8 to the show, and who knows, maybe I’ll come home with a 1932 Model A. Stranger things have happened.

However, if I stick with the 8, then that’s all good too. Tomorrow is the annual gathering of the Minnesota RX-8 Enthusiasts in SLP. I’m not obsessed with cars by any means, but I love a good gathering of metal and rubber and think this weekend will be a hit. Not too bad a way to spend a weekend in MN.

As many of you know, I am an avid reader and follower of the comedian Aaron Karo. It really scares me how often is comedic newsletters hit home. Its literally like we follow the exact same path in life and run in to the same obstacles, problems, and drunk transvestites at Bachelor Parties, (note to Mike Fineman: “Hey Giiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirl!”).

In this month’s newsletter he talks about new birthday present wishes, and i had to chuckle at my own request this year … which was a vacuum. My needs in gifts have come down things I can’t have (my neighbor’s better parking spot in the garage), or things I need but would never buy myself. So, I got a vacuum. I’m happy yet disappointed at myself at the same time. If anyone ever wants to give me a Nerf gun or new board game next year, I will be quite pleased.

So anyways, in today’s newsletter he hinted at a new daily blog called “The Toilet Paper”. I haven’t read it yet, but I did sign up for the daily email blast. After reading the tagline on the website, how could I not? So for any other people looking for a 2 minute laugh each day (and Marcus, maybe this one is not blocked for you either), join me in checking it out.

So my good friend and former roommate, Mr. Marcus Magy, tells me that of all social media sites on this great planet … HelloNeiman.com is the ONLY non-blocked website for him at work. So, with his formal request to bring back the love to helloneiman.com, I have come up with yet another idea. My blogging time has been taken up with the Herzlcamp blog lately (http://blog.herzlcamp.org), but its time to bring back the love.

I am a man of ”to do list”. If its not written down, I don’t do it, I don’t buy it, and I don’t remember it. Ask anyone who has been in my home or office, I literally litter the place with yellow post-it notes and desktop widgets to keep my abreast of my growing lists. Which means, the only way to make sure Iupdate weekly on my blog … is to make a repeating to-do list item. It is now on my calendar and googletasks list people, and I will do my best to post more often. I’ve kept you all deprived and this needs to change, IMMEDIA… oops, Herzl Camp already started this summer … INSTANTLY.

I have been MIA lately in life, busy with work and travel, trying to keep up with entertainment and media as much as I can. I know I have not been as vocal lately, but my anticipation for the LOST season finale could not be more intense. I have obsessed over every detail, conversation, clip, question, “answer”, storyline, timeline, flash, and character for 6 years. With the exception of Dr. David Bender B M.D., I can’t think of another person who spends more of their free time analyzing and trying to understand what we see and what it means.

LOST is not a television show. It is not an element of pop culture. It is not a fad, a fashion, a statement, or a political agenda. It is part entertainment, part philosophy, part theology, part history, part ideology, and simply put … is the greatest human cultural phenomen I’ve enjoyed witnessing. Along with you, I sit in anticipation for what will likely be the most talked about television finale of our generation (with apologies to Seinfeld, Cheers, and MASH). I for one, can not wait.

Whether you already assume it will be a letdown (Hage), will leave too many open questions (Bender), or simply lead-in to a spin off about a new set of castaways (Will) … one thing is for sure. You will all be there to watch it. Enjoy the last few weeks, and if you are in Minnesota, join us for our LOST Season Finale Party.

Watch the video above. A fan made this promo video and posted it to facebook, youtube, lostpedia, etc. I think it captures the feelings and emotions fairly well for those of us still obsessed after 6 awesome seasons.
